Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope in applied environmental science and engineering, and is written in clear, scholarly English.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format and prepared using the official SJE template (PDF is accepted for the main file only with the editor’s permission).
  • A separate Title Page and a fully blinded manuscript (without any author-identifying information) are provided for double-blind review.
  • The manuscript includes a structured abstract (maximum 250 words), 3–6 keywords, and the required back-matter statements: Author Contributions (CRediT), Funding, Conflict of Interest, and Data Availability — with Ethics Approval/Consent and an AI-Use statement where applicable.
  • References are complete and formatted in the journal’s numbered style with DOIs where available; figures and tables are numbered, legible, and cited in the text; and the relevant reporting-guideline checklist (PRISMA/STROBE/CONSORT/ARRIVE) and ethics/field-permit documents are attached where applicable.

Author Guidelines

Sriwijaya Journal of Environment (SJE) is a peer-reviewed, fully open-access journal in applied environmental science and engineering. Before submitting, please read the complete Author Guidelines, which set out the journal's full requirements for manuscript structure, research ethics, reporting standards, and references. The summary below highlights the essential requirements.

Manuscript types & length. Original Research Article (3,000–7,000 words), Review Article (maximum 8,000 words; systematic reviews and meta-analyses must follow PRISMA), and Short Communication (maximum 2,500 words).

Files required at submission.

  • Title Page (separate file): title, article type, all authors with affiliations and ORCID, corresponding-author details, Author Contributions (CRediT), Funding, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability Statement, Ethics Approval/Consent where applicable, and an AI Use Statement where applicable.
  • Blinded Manuscript (.doc/.docx, prepared with the official SJE template): no author names, affiliations, or self-identifying information, formatted for double-blind review.
  • Cover Letter, supplementary materials, and the relevant reporting-guideline checklist (PRISMA, STROBE, CONSORT, or ARRIVE) where applicable.

Manuscript preparation. Use the official SJE template. Provide a structured abstract of no more than 250 words (Background, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion) and 3–6 keywords. Organise the paper as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Use SI units throughout and the journal's numbered reference style, including DOIs where available.

Ethics & integrity. Authorship follows ICMJE criteria; every submission is screened for textual similarity. Research involving human participants, animals, or environmentally sensitive material must report the relevant ethics approval and field/collection permits, and comply with the Convention on Biological Diversity / Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing where applicable. Any use of generative AI must be disclosed in an AI Use Statement. SJE adheres to the COPE Core Practices.

Suggested reviewers. Authors are asked to suggest at least two qualified, independent reviewers (full name, institutional affiliation and e-mail, country, and ORCID/Scopus Author ID where available); the editor is not bound to use them.

Publication charges. SJE charges no submission fee and no article processing charge (APC). Articles are published under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence and authors retain copyright.
