Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
- The manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope in applied environmental science and engineering, and is written in clear, scholarly English.
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format and prepared using the official SJE template (PDF is accepted for the main file only with the editor’s permission).
- A separate Title Page and a fully blinded manuscript (without any author-identifying information) are provided for double-blind review.
- The manuscript includes a structured abstract (maximum 250 words), 3–6 keywords, and the required back-matter statements: Author Contributions (CRediT), Funding, Conflict of Interest, and Data Availability — with Ethics Approval/Consent and an AI-Use statement where applicable.
- References are complete and formatted in the journal’s numbered style with DOIs where available; figures and tables are numbered, legible, and cited in the text; and the relevant reporting-guideline checklist (PRISMA/STROBE/CONSORT/ARRIVE) and ethics/field-permit documents are attached where applicable.

All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This licence permits others to share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided the original work and its authors are properly cited and any derivative works are distributed under the same licence.
By submitting a manuscript, the authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously (except as a thesis, report, or abstract), and is not under consideration elsewhere, and that its submission has been approved by all co-authors. Authors are permitted to deposit the published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories, accompanied by the full citation and DOI.
